Osyka Civic Club - About UsThe Osyka Civic Club was chartered in 1969 by the following six ladies: Betty Jo Beadle, Hilda Hines, Alice Faye Crawford, Carol Jean Conerly, Linda Carruth, and Mary Alford. The objective of the club is to enlighten our members in all general areas and work for the betterment of our community. Our membership is limited to twenty members whose duties, privileges, and vacancies are provided according to the By-Laws. Each member picks a month to be the hostess of our meetings. The Osyka Civic Club meets the second Thursday of every month. Every year we elect officers who serve a one year term. Suggested new member names are brought before the club and then voted on by secret ballot. The Osyka Civic Club has been a part of several events during the club's history. Some events are no longer held, and some new events are taken place. Here is a list of events - past and present - the club has participated in or hosted: Senior Citizen Valentine's Banquet, Yard of the Month, Dairy Day Festival, Easter Egg Hunt, Post Office Flower Bed, Bake Sale, Fall Fest, Timber Fest, Street Dance, Community Street Sales, helping area families in times of need such as sickness, death, or fire, Christmas Lighting Contest, Santa Night, and sending care packages to our soldiers overseas. We will be having our Second Annual Arts & Crafts Spring Fling on April 5, 2008 from 9:00 until 4:00 p.m. in conjunction with the 2008 Pike County Azalea Festival with hopes of being able to do this year after year. Throughout the years, the Osyka Civic Club has taken great pride in the many different events we have hosted. As a group of ladies it serves as a special place for lifetime friendships to form. In big cities and small towns, there are many things to be done. Those of us who live, work, and love our little town of Osyka know that we all have to take part. The ladies who founded the Osyka Civic Club and those who have continued it will provide future generations a wonderful avenue through which to serve our community in years to come. 2007 Osyka Civic Club Officers and MembersPresident - Stacee Ott Vice President - Marie Marquis Secretary - Nancy DeVoss
